■ The Tigers are coming off an interleague series win against the Diamondbacks, sealed with an 11-5 victory Wednesday afternoon in Phoenix. Thursday marks the start of a four-game series against Anaheim.

■ Max Scherzer, Thursday’s Tigers starter, hasn’t lost since June 17, going 3-0 in five appearances since then. The Tigers have gone 4-1 in his last five starts.

■ Austin Jackson is batting .382 (29-for-76) since July 2, with 10 doubles, two triples, one home run and nine runs batted in.
