A fire ripped through a Roseville church on Sunday, destroying it.
Roseville Fire Chief Mike Holland said the department received a call about a fire at the New Life Church of God in Christ on Blair Street near 10 Mile Road and Gratiot at about 5:50 p.m.
He said firefighters were able to contain the fire, but it completely destroyed the building. No injuries were reported, according to the fire chief. The last church service was held 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
Holland said it’s not clear what started the fire, but an investigator was at the scene.
The fire chief said the blaze started during thunderstorms Sunday evening, and could have been caused by a lightning strike on the church’s steeple.
