Funeral planned for West Michigan gas station clerk

Battle Creek Funeral services will be held for a Battle Creek gas station employee who was fatally stabbed during a robbery.

The Kalamazoo Gazette reports visitation will be Tuesday and funeral services Wednesday for 27-year-old Nicole Gates. Police say Gates was killed July 23 at a Citgo gas station. They say the robber took money, beer, cigarettes and lottery tickets.

Gates had three children and lived in Hastings.

Police arrested 30-year-old Shawn Pike of Battle Creek. He was arraigned on July 24 and ordered jailed without bond until a show-cause hearing Aug. 7.

Twenty-one-year-old Dustin Hartman of Battle Creek was arraigned July 24 on accessory charges. He was jailed in Calhoun County with a $20,000 bond.
