Antietam will open at 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday for a special menu with wine pairings, a publicist for the restaurant announced Wednesday. Reservations can be made by e-mailing email@example.com.
Just a week after its grand opening on July 21, Eastern Market’s Antietam restaurant is closed this week to “rework some things,” according to owner Gregory Holm.
The art deco style refurbished restaurant at 1428 Gratiot had a soft opening in mid-July and started accepting reservations by e-mail on July 21. On Monday, however, the restaurant posted on social media that it was closed.
Holm said he hopes to reopen “within a week.”
After a few nights of service Antietam had earned rave reviews on social media for its modern menu, handcrafted cocktails and meticulous art deco, yet contemporary, setting.
A photographer and architect as well as restaurateur, Holm and Antietam were recently featured in a New York Times article that highlighted Holm’s approach to redesigning the two buildings that make up the restaurant. In the interview, Holm talked about growing up in Detroit and the importance of hiring a diverse staff that reflects the demographic of the city.
