The Tigers' new rotation, by the numbers

Detroit — It would be unfair to call David Price the Tigers’ new ace because with three Cy Young starters, it looks like they have a rotation of aces.

But he’s certainly the Tigers’ pitcher who has pitched the best, and most consistently, in his last 12 starts.

In fact, Price arrives absolutely sizzling, having not allowed more than three earned runs in any of the 12.

Here’s how each of the starters in the Tigers’ revised rotation has pitched in their last 12 starts:

Pitcher W-L ERA
David Price 7-4 2.03
Rick Porcello 5-4 3.46
Max Scherzer 7-2 3.83
Anibal Sanchez 5-3 3.91
Justin Verlander 4-6 5.87

Opponents batting average (last 12 games)

Price .209
Sanchez .239
Scherzer .251
Porcello .255
Verlander .285

Opponents OPS (last 12)

Price .564
Sanchez .633
Scherzer .691
Porcello .704
Verlander .826
