Senior citizen fatally struck in head during carjacking in Detroit

Detroit A senior citizen was fatally bludgeoned in the head during a carjacking early Tuesday morning on the city's east side, police said.

A 68-year-old man was standing at 1 a.m. outside the 9000 block of Oldtown Street when a man struck him in the head with an unknown object, according to Officer Sandra Whitfield.

The suspect then fled in the man's 2012 burgundy Ford F-150.

Police described the suspect as a man in his 30s with a bald head and a clean shave.

No other information was immediately available.
