Two Downriver communities have scheduled a special flood-related trash pickup day for Saturday after Monday’s deluge caused widespread flooding in many basements.
Taylor and Southgate announced a free pickup Wednesday for flood-related items that may have been damaged in the Monday night’s record rainfall.
Residents interested in the special pickup must register through the Taylor City Hall customer service center by no later than noon Friday. They can either register in person at City Hall or call the service desk at (734) 287-6550.
According to Taylor Mayor Rick Sollars, the city has so far received between 50 and 100 calls from residents who were flooded by Monday’s cloudburst.
Pickups in Taylor will begin by 8 a.m. and will likely be completed by noon.
Southgate residents are asked to contact City Hall at (734) 258-3010 to receive the necessary reporting forms.
