Ypsilanti’s Growing Hope’s mission is to help people improve their lives and communities through gardening and healthy food access. The Growing Hope center, at 922 Michigan in Ypsilanti, is hosting the first installment of its Chefs in the Garden fundraising dinners for 2014.
At this open-air dinner beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday, guests will be able to tour the grounds and enjoy a meal prepared by some of the most notable chefs in the area, Silvio Medoro of Silvio’s Organic Ristorante & Pizza in Ann Arbor and Dan Vernia, formerly of Raven Club and currently at Juicy Kitchen Café.
This is the first of three dinners in the Chefs in the Garden series. Sept. 21 will feature Chef Benjamin Meyer of Iridescence restaurant in Detroit, with Chef Kirk Robinson, who is the executive sous chef for the MotorCity Casino Hotel. Special drinks will be provided by Two James Spirits. Finally, on Oct. 19, Chef Brandon Johns of the Grange Kitchen & Bar will be the featured chef, with Heather Anne Leavitt of Sweet Heather Anne providing desserts.
