Grapevine: PBS plans Robin Williams special

A tribute to late comedian Robin Williams will air on PBS at 9 p.m. Tuesday. “Robin Williams Remembered — A Pioneers of Television Special” includes footage from his early days and interviews with Henry Winkler, Yakov Smirnoff, Pauly Shore, Whoopi Goldberg, Jerry Stiller and many others. The special also includes Williams’ last full-length television interview and previously unseen footage. On Monday, the comedian’s daughter, Zelda Williams, returned to Twitter after she left social media after reading crude remarks regarding her father’s suicide. Her first tweet since Aug. 13 linked to her Tumblr site with a quote from Harvey Fierstein that said, “Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no ones definition of your life; define yourself.”

Faith No More has new album after 18 years

Alternative metal band Faith No More will release its seventh album next spring, bassist and founding member Bill Gould told Rolling Stone. The not-yet-named independent release will be their first in 18 years, since 1997’s “Album of the Year.” A full U.S. tour is planned, but no dates have been booked.

Bieber adds injury to arrest

Pop star Justin Bieber visited Stratford General Hospital in Ontario on Wednesday to have his wrist examined. TMZ is reporting he suffered a sprain. It’s unclear if the injury has anything to do with Friday’s car accident, which resulted in him being arrested for assault and driving dangerously.

■Detroit-raised Motown recording artist KEM has the No. 1 R&B album in the country. His fourth studio album, “Promise to Love,” also is No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart.

■After rumors bubbled this week of a “Flight of the Conchords” reunion, one half of the group, Jemaine Clement, said it’s all a misunderstanding. He tweeted that they are not working on anything related to “Conchords” for HBO. “I am working on another idea with (HBO) though, hence the mix-up.”


Bernie Madoff’s son, Andrew Madoff, died of cancer Wednesday. He suffered from mantle cell lymphoma. The former stockbroker’s other son, Mark Madoff,committed suicide in 2010.
