Detroit eyes vacant Lee Plaza for housing redevelopment

The vacant 15-story Lee Plaza Apartments at 2240 West Grand Blvd., shuttered since 1997, were reopened Monday, May 15, 2017, during a news conference. The city of Detroit proposes to buy the building from the Detroit Housing Commission and transfer it to the Detroit Building Authority for redevelopment as part of a plan to boost housing and rental opportunities for lower-income residents.
