The life and times of Detroit's Olympia Stadium

Olympia Stadium, shown here newly built in 1927, was a Detroit fixture for much of the 20th century. The Detroit professional hockey team, which became known as the Red Wings in 1932, started out at Olympia, and the stadium, which hosted everything from professional boxing to Beatles concerts, closed when the Wings moved to Joe Louis Arena. It was demolished in 1986.
