75 years ago: Pearl Harbor attacked

The destroyer USS Shaw explodes after being hit by bombs during the surprise attack by the Imperial Japanese Navy on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on Dec. 7, 1941. More than 2,400 people were killed, thousands were wounded and dozens of Navy vessels were sunk, destroyed or damaged. The devastating raid against the U.S. Pacific Fleet moored at Pearl Harbor became a major catalyst for the United States entering World War II.
