Mark Everson: A former Bush IRS commissioner, Everson, 60, has declared his candidacy, established a campaign committee and has a web site and an ad. He worked in the Bush and Reagan administrations, in a variety of agencies including the United States Information Agency, Department of Justice and Immigration and Naturalization Service, before his appointment as IRS commissioner under George W. Bush. He resigned under pressure as CEO of the American Red Cross in 2007 due to what he admits was an “inappropriate personal relationship with a distant subordinate,” and now is an executive with alliantgroup, LP, a provider of specialty tax services for small and medium-sized businesses. He lives in Mississippi.
