4. Josh Prince, UT: He’s signed to a minor-league contract, so he will be on the back fields initially, but he has some qualities manager Brad Ausmus likes — namely speed, athleticism and positional versatility. He had an on-base percentage of .356 with 37 bases in Double A last season. He’s not a power hitter, but like Kelly, he’s got some pop in his bat. He’s hit 16 homers the last two seasons (Triple A and Double A). Most importantly, he can play second, short, third and outfield. His primary positions in the minor leagues were shortstop and center field. If Perez or Romine falter, Prince could be an option.
