'Gold Digger' wins the Autorama's Ridler Award

Tammy Ray, whose gold 1933 Ford phaeton was parked just inside a main Autorama entrance at Cobo Hall, had been so thrilled when a car she entered in the Ridler competition in 2006 made it into the Great Eight finalists she decided to design a car named "Gold Digger." She was even more thrilled Sunday when her "Gold Digger" won the 2010 Autorama's coveted top Ridler Award. She was the first woman to do so. -- February 27, 2010
