Michigan's John Beilein, Manny Harris need each other
Bob Wojnowski: Beilein desperately needs a boost, something to convince us he's more than just a smart, gentlemanly leader of an up-and-down, underachieving program. Harris needs to round out his game and show he can be the focal point of an offense. - 7:32 pm

Lions know all good teams come to pass in NFC North
John Niyo: With the emergence of Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay and the arrival of Brett Favre in Minnesota and Jay Cutler in Chicago -- now you've got Mike Martz there, too -- this isn't the same 'ol Black and Blue division. - 7:32 pm
Possible Tigers starters look good vs. Yankees
Three important pitchers -- Dontrelle Willis, Jeremy Bonderman and Nate Robertson -- pulled three good grades Saturday as the Tigers whipped the New York Yankees, 6-2, at windy Marchant Stadium. - 7:32 pm
MSU waits for explosiveness of Delvon Roe's game to emerge
Eric Lacy: It's unfair to call Michigan State forward Delvon Roe's young college career a bust. But that's a popular belief among overzealous fans who thought Roe would be an explosive dynamo this season. - 7:32 pm
U-M spring game played at night would be extra special
Angelique S. Chengelis: Just think of the possibilities. There has been so much talk among fans in recent years about the Wolverines playing a night game at Michigan Stadium, and what better way for that to become a reality than by doing a dry run during the spring? - 7:32 pm

Minds are Jim Leyland's business
Leyland is the best psychologist who has managed the Tigers, at least in the past 35 years. Leyland is so into reading the minds of his team and players he would not separate it from his responsibility as skipper. - 03/13/2010

Thankfully, GMs shot down dopey idea for pre-playoff tournament
The proposal by Islanders owner Charles Wang was to have the teams that finish eight through 15 in each conference play a week-long tournament to decide the eighth-place finisher. Never mind that 82-game regular season -- that was just a prelim. - 03/13/2010

Ex-Tiger Purnal Goldy never reached phenomenal promise
He was tall, rawboned, with a classic swing. He would be the perfect outfielder for the Tigers, an athlete who would fit in with Al Kaline. - 03/13/2010

Dontrelle Willis is thankful for everything
Giving thanks. Some players do it when they cross the plate. Some in the dugout for all to see. Willis, without fanfare, does it. He didn't know someone had noticed. - 03/13/2010
