Detroit — A craft distillery and tasting room in Detroit’s Eastern Market is set to open.
Detroit City Distillery plans a grand opening celebration Friday and Saturday.
The business’ mission is to produce spirits and cocktails using Michigan ingredients. It’s located at 2462 Riopelle.
The distillery is led by John Paul Jerome and Chuck Gellasch. Jerome previously worked as a quality control expert at Bell’s Brewery, and Gellasch was bar manager of the Detroit cocktail bar, Sugar House.
Detroit City Distillery sells whiskey and bourbon for $55 a bottle. Vodka is $35. Gin and other small batch experimental spirits are planned in the coming months.
