A new high-performance Cadillac ATS and a refreshed Chrysler 300 are two of at least five vehicle debuts expected from Detroit automakers in November at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Officials this week announced General Motors Co. plans to unveil the all-new 2015 ATS-V and two unnamed other global premieres from Chevrolet. A refreshed Chrysler 300 and an unidentified Fiat will debut for Chrysler. Details were not provided on Ford vehicles.
Kelley Blue Book senior analyst Karl Brauer said the debuts come at a good time for Chrysler and GM, as the ATS and 300 struggle to maintain sales.
“These models need a shot in the arm,” he said during a Friday phone interview. “They need some excitement to build on.”
ATS sales are down 20 percent through August compared to the same time last year. The 300’s sales are down 11 percent during the same time period.
Chrysler has sold nearly 200,000 of the 300 sedans since 2011, the year the second-generation vehicle launched.
GM has sold more than 65,600 ATS models since the compact sedan launched in 2012. The new V-series model will become the third iteration of the vehicle. GM unveiled a coupe version of the ATS at the North American International Auto Show in January.
Thirty vehicles are expected to make their global debuts during this year’s L.A. Auto Show press days Nov. 18-19, according to show officials.
“With this debut lineup, Los Angeles will deliver the best of what’s to come in the automotive space and we’re eager to see how it all unfolds,” said L.A. Auto Show President Lisa Kaz in a statement. “The automotive landscape is ever-changing, and we continue to be at the forefront of the groundbreaking news.”
Historically known as a “green” show for fuel efficient vehicles, the L.A. Auto Show in recent years has had a range of debuts, from the Chevrolet Colorado pickup to luxury cars like the Kia K900.
Other brands expected to have global debuts include Scion, Acura, Lexus, Toyota and Volkswagen. At least a dozen manufacturers have also confirmed North American introductions.
