Classic car enthusiasts attending the Woodward Dream Cruise on Saturday may want to be out early as severe weather is possible later in the day.
“Showers and thunderstorms will become likely in the afternoon hours,” said National Weather Service meteorologist Dan Thompson on the forecast for the dream cruise, which officially takes place Saturday. “There are marginal risks for severe weather.”
Some of the storms, expected to start after 2 p.m. throughout Metro Detroit, could contain gusty winds and torrential downpours, Thompson said. Otherwise the day will be warm and humid with high temperatures in the mid 80s.
For the car buffs getting an early start on the festivities Friday there is a low chance for storms, according to the weather service. Temperatures will be in the upper 70s to mid 80s.
“It will be a little on the warm side this evening,” Thompson said.
