Troy — Michigan’s first Field & Stream retailer opened its doors Wednesday with plans for a grand opening ceremony scheduled for later this month.
The nearly 50,000-square-foot outdoor sports and hunting equipment store is opening in the same complex as Oakland Mall at the site of a former Circuit City. It’s one of 10 Field & Stream stores owned by Dick’s Sporting Goods across the country. Other locations are in Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina, Kentucky and New York.
The store will host a weekend-long grand opening ceremony Thursday, March 26-Sunday, March 29 with celebrity guests and family activities. Scheduled appearances include the American Eagle Foundation, Troy and Jacob Landry from the History Channel TV show “Swamp People,” Mike Stroff, host of the Sportsman Channel’s “Savage Outdoors TV” and Nick Mundt from the Outdoor Channel show “Bone Collector”
The grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony will take place Thursday at 9:45 a.m. The first 500 customers will get a free gift card worth up to $500. Other merchandise giveaways are also planned.
Sunday features the Hunt, Cast and Pitch Youth Challenge noon-3 p.m. Children ages 6-15 can test their skills in archery, fishing and tent building to win a $100 gift card.
