Detroiters can get a taste of one of Chicago’s most applauded cocktail bars without leaving town next week.

The Violet Hour will bring its staff and drink menu to Corktown’s Sugar House for a takeover Monday 5 p.m.-midnight. The Wicker Park bar specializes in “pre-Prohibition cocktails,” and has a vibe similar to the Sugar House (for example, don’t expect Bud Light on the menu at either).

Last September the Violet Hour, which won the 2015 James Beard Foundation Award for Best Bar Program, hosted the Sugar House’s staff for a takeover to give Chicago drinkers look at Detroit’s craft cocktails.

Reservations or tickets are not necessary to attend the Violet Hour takeover at Sugar House, 2130 Michigan in Detroit. For information call Sugar House at (313) 962-0123.

The Violet Hour isn’t the only Chicago takeover happening this month. Avondale’s Honey Butter Fried Chicken will join the brunch service at Russell Street Deli (2465 Russell) on April 22.

The Chicago eatery will also join forces with Grey Ghost (47 Watson) for a five-course dinner on April 23. The 5 p.m. dinner is $60 per person; reservations can be made by calling (313) 262-6534.
