‘Housewives’ to perform ‘Vagina Monologues’ in Warren

The stars of the reality series “Housewives” will perform EveEnsler’s award-winning stage show “The Vagina Monologues” on June 22 at the Andiamo Celebrity Showroom. The cast includes Detroit’s own Kenya Moore of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” Brandi Glanville of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” and Teresa Giudice of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey.” Tickets to see the emotional and comical show are $25-$75 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. A limited number of $100 VIP meet-and-greet tickets are available. A portion of ticket proceeds will benefit the Mariska Hargitay’s Joyful Heart Foundation and Care House of Macomb County. Detroit area mom nominated for Steve Harvey contest

Nicole Farmer of Detroit is one of five moms nominated for the titled “Supermom” on the “Steve Harvey” show. She and the other moms will be featured throughout the week, and the audience will vote on who will win the title and a Mediterranean cruise. Each nominee gets $5,000. Farmer was nominated by her two sons, ages 22 and 11. According to her children, Farmer has overcome teenage pregnancy, homelessness, poverty and other struggles. In the end she persevered and founded Lifeline business consulting, a nonprofit that has helped 5,000 entrepreneurs reach their goals. Watch “Steve Harvey” on CBS 62 weekdays at 4 p.m.

Creem Magazine celebration planned outside museum

To commemorate the new permanent Creem Magazine exhibit at the Birmingham Museum, a free party and concert will be held June 10. The festivities include live music on the back lawn of the museum, plus appearances by Creem staffers, including former editor Susan Whitall, who is also a former music reporter for The Detroit News. The family-friendly event is 2-4 p.m. June 10 at the museum, 556 W. Maple. While the party is free, there is an admission free to view the exhibit and reading room. Jazz promoter honored with concert

Late jazz enthusiast, concert presenter and artist manager Wesley Skip Norris will be honored June 9 with a jazz concert at the Northwest Activities Center, 18100 Meyers in Detroit. WEMU’s Linda Yohn will host the event, which features musicians Joe Locke, JD Allen, Tammy McCann, Nancy Assis, Eric Reed, Jean Baylor, Marcus Baylor, Victor Goines and more. Gary Schunk, Ralphe Armstrong and Bill Higgins will be the rhythm section for the evening.
