Mariah’s back in Times Square
After a disastrous performance last year just before the ball dropped on Times Square, Mariah Carey has agreed to return to “Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve” and redeem herself this year. She also agreed, according to TMZ, to do a full a sound check this time around. Last year, Carey, 47, was present for only part of a critical sound check. During the performance, the singer claimed her earpiece failed, and she couldn’t hear the music, throwing her way off her game.
De Lesseps checks into drunk tank
There’s nothing like the clarity that comes with a little time and a massive hangover. “Real Housewives of New York” actress Luann de Lesseps apologized for Sunday’s contretemps in Palm Beach when she and an unidentified man, both drunk, snuck in a hotel room that wasn’t theirs. Eventually, the cops were called to evict the uncooperative couple, and things got ugly fast, with de Lesseps threatening to kill an officer. “After the events of last Saturday night in Palm Beach, I am truly embarrassed,” the 52-year-old star told Page Six Friday. “I have the greatest respect for police officers and the job they do. My actions alleged in the police report do not reflect my core values and my law abiding character.” The upshot? De Lesseps is following Hollywood’s tradition and checking into a rehab clinic.
Workaholic Prince Charles
Say what you like about the cost of the monarchy in Great Britain, Prince Charles is certainly giving the citizens’ their money’s worth. Last year, the 69-year-old Prince of Wales took part in an astonishing 546 public duties and events, of which 172 were overseas. The younger royals need to shake a leg if they’re going to keep up. Prince William carried out 171 engagements, while the newly engaged Prince Harry notched 139.
Hemsworth ‘sexiest vegan celebrity’
This would put a swagger in your step: London’s Daily Mail reports actor Liam Hemsworth, 27, is PETA Australia’s “sexiest vegan celebrity for 2017,” one year after bagging the same award from the animal-rights organization’s American counterpart. Hemsworth, who starred in “Independence Day: Resurgence” and is now on his second engagement to Miley Cyrus, 25, reportedly went “animal-product free” two years ago, and is a noted animal-rights advocate and environmentalist. Fiancee Cyrus is also a vegan. Hemsworth says “Hunger Games” co-star Woody Harrelson convinced him vegan was the way to go.
