Matrix MAC Health will sponsor the “21st Anniversary Artworks Detroit” gala Friday from 6 p.m. to midnight to raise money for essential AIDS services and education — a reminder that, despite generally effective treatments, the health crisis is far from over.
Money raised will go to support education, risk-reduction training, counseling, testing and case-management services for people living with HIV.
The event will be held at the College for Creative Studies’ Taubman Center behind the old General Motors Building, and will include a live and silent auction of 150 works donated by some of Detroit’s hottest artists.
Also on tap will be hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, music and a fashion show. Tickets are $75 per person, and include valet parking.
The artists whose work is up for auction include Sergio De Giusti, Jeanne Bieri, Laurie Tennent, Carl Demeulenaere, Robert Schefman, David Rubello and Tom Phardel and others.
For tickets, go to www.matrixhumanservices.org/artworks. The Taubman Center is located in the New Center at 420 W. Baltimore, Detroit.
