HopCat’s Midtown location is set to open on Nov. 15 with live music and a record-breaking tap take over.
News exploded in February of a Detroit location for the award-winning Michigan beer bar, which has locations in Grand Rapids and East Lansing (and anther coming soon to Ann Arbor). The original time frame had the restaurant and live music venue opening in August. A statement released Wednesday updated the opening to 11 a.m. Nov. 15. HopCat will be located 4200 block of Woodward at Canfield.
On opening day, Brooklyn-based Pitchblak Brass Band will play on the second floor, which serves as a 400 capacity music venue (250 seated). A tap takeover is scheduled to include at least 101 varieties of beer from Bellaire’s Short’s Brewery. Previously, the HopCat in East Lansing broke the record for most beers from one brewery available in one place when it opened in 2013 with 100 Short’s products.
Most enticing, though, is that HopCat Detroit will reward the first 200 customers in line on Nov. 15 with a gift card good for a free order of “crack fries” every week for a year. An order of the addictive seasoned french fries will be given to each person who visits on Nov. 15.
