We're in the middle of another whirlwind of restaurant openings in Metro Detroit.

Most recently, chef Andy Hollyday and Evan Hansen opened Selden Standard over the weekend at 3921 Selden in Midtown. The theme there is shared, seasonal plates made with locally sourced ingredients and craft cocktails. Look for beef tartare, sweet potato ravioli, tuna crudo and lamb meatballs.

From what we've learned about the type of staff Selden Standard is hoping to hire, expect knowledgeable servers and a high level of hospitality.

Hansen tells us that for now, the restaurant will be open for dinner only, 4:30-11 p.m. for the bar and 5-10 p.m. for the kitchen. Lunch and weekend brunch hours will be added down the line.

Burgers, brats, bourbon and beer in Royal Oak

Michael Symon's second Metro Detroit B Spot location opened Monday on Main Street in Royal Oak. The Iron Chef was in town over the weekend to greet guests at an invite-only soft opening to prepare the staff.

"It's a cool area," says Symon about Royal Oak. He added that his first Metro Detroit B Spot in Rochester Hills is doing well.

"Partridge Creek location is about four months away (from opening)," said the James Beard Award-winning chef. He also said he's working with Dan Gilbert's people to find a building for his downtown Detroit B Spot.

The Royal Oak B Spot, 310 S. Main, is a bit smaller than the Rochester Hills restaurant, which opened in May. The decor is similar, with dark walls, modern accents and a "B" mural made out of beer cans.

The menu is a carbon copy of the other B Spot outlets, and has a focus on cooked-to-order burgers that are more about quality than quantity. They impress with gourmet toppings rather than ridiculous sizes.

A new life for historic inn

The Historic White Horse Inn in Metamora plans to open on Nov. 24 after new owners took over and extensively renovated with the help of the community.

Originally established in 1850, the restaurant will host a VIP fundraiser on Nov. 22 to raise funds for the Banbury Cross Therapeutic Equestrian Center. Tickets, $225, include entry to the party and a first taste of the new menu and craft cocktail list. Tickets can be purchased by calling (810) 678-BARN, or at the White Horse in person at 1 E. High St. in Metamora.

Farm fresh cooking in Corktown

Chef Josh Stockton at the long-awaited Gold Cash Gold says he hopes to be open by the end of this month.

Located near Slow's Bar B.Q. at 2100 Michigan in Corktown, Gold Cash Gold will features a rotating selection of craft cocktails and Stockton says the food style will be "like that of a modern farmstead."

"There will be a lot of southern influences to go along with French and rustic Italian," he adds. "The way I like to describe it is that a farm in the south isn't that much different from a farm in Provence or Tuscany or even Vietnam. They all use what is available to them and they don't waste anything; they are very self sufficient."

The restaurant, which will seat about 80, gets its name from the original sign out front. The building used to house a pawn shop.

From AJ's to Zeke's

Easily the most anticipated bar and restaurant opening in the Ferndale area, Zeke's Rock and Roll B.B.Q. is also expected to open in early December. The public had a chance to try one of the restaurant's bacon creations at the recent Baconfest at Royal Oak Farmers Market, where Zeke's bacon jalapeno popper casserole won the title of Most Innovative Bacon Creation.

Another likely menu item is barbeque spaghetti, but beyond that, owners are being tight-lipped about what other meaty creations the menu may include. We're told that there will be plenty of vegetarian options, however, in addition to the smoked meats.

For now, the Ferndale bar — located at 240 W. Nine Mile where AJ's Cafe used to be — is accepting employment applications and working on finishing the interior decor.

Also opening

■Owners of Townhouse bistro in Birmingham announced via social media last week that a Detroit location is on the way. The new restaurant, which doesn't have an opening date, will be in the One Detroit Center building at 500 Woodward.

■Farmington Brewing Company opens at 2 p.m. Saturday. The downtown Farmington tap room, at 33336 Grand River, seats 85 and will be open daily.

■The Blackfinn Ameripub chain will open its second Michigan restaurant in Partridge Creek in Clinton Township in early 2015.
