If it seems like a hot new restaurant is opening in Detroit every weekend or so, it's not your imagination. This weekend it's Corktown's Gold Cash Gold. The former pawn shop has been serving family and friends the past week or so, and announced this week that the official opening is Saturday.
Located near Slow's Bar B.Q. at 2100 Michigan, Gold Cash Gold will features a rotating selection of craft cocktails and Chef Josh Stockton says the food style will be "like that of a modern farmstead."
"There will be a lot of southern influences to go along with French and rustic Italian," he told The Detroit News last month. "The way I like to describe it is that a farm in the south isn't that much different from a farm in Provence or Tuscany or even Vietnam. They all use what is available to them and they don't waste anything; they are very self sufficient."
The restaurant, which will seat about 80, gets its name from the original pawn shop sign out front.
