As we approach the end of spring and start of summer, it’s time to dust off those cute wedge shoes and get fancy. Between garden parties, terrace tastings and other breezy upscale events, there’s plenty of happenings to fill the social calendar. Here are a few choice options:

Top of the Pontch Fireworks Experience

Finding a hot spot to watch the Detroit fireworks display on June 22 is tricky, but the Top of the Pontch restaurant at the Crowne Plaza (2 Washington Blvd.) is throwing a party with one of the best views possible.

Watch the colorful bursts of patriotism from 25 floors up while noshing on Caribbean jerk prawns with grilled pineapple relish, prosciutto-wrapped figs, duck eggrolls, carnita sliders, crab and lobster rolls and other posh finger foods.

Only 150 tickets will be sold, and promoters are asking attendees to “dress to impress.” Tickets are $100, or $600 for a booth with bottle service. Visit neptix.com/events/21556 for more info.

Terrace Tastings at Rattlensake

The Rattlesnake Club kicks off its annual outdoor terrace tasting series Thursday with sparkling wines selected by sommelier Maria Papp. The bubbly will be paired with plates from the Rattlesnake’s executive chef Chris Franz and chef de cuisine Jeff Lanctot.

The tastings continue most Thursdays through Aug. 20 (there are none scheduled on July 2 and 9). On June 18, wines from Argentina will be the star of the evening, and on June 25 it’s Italian wines. If you taste anything you really love, you can buy a bottle to take home with you.

The parties start at 6 p.m. and advance purchase is required ($45 plus tax and tip). Call (313) 567-4400 to reserve. The Rattlesnake Club is at 300 River Place Drive in Detroit.

Garden Party at Meadow Brook Hall

For a suburban setting, consider Meadow Brook Hall’s seventh annual Garden Party. The Sunday soiree, a fundraiser to provide underprivileged teens scholarships to trade schools, features food from 30 fine dining establishments. Stroll through and sample mouthfuls from places like the Root Restaurant and Bar and kitchens in the Roberts Restaurant Group, the Epicurean Group and Andiamo Restaurant Group.

Sip from your choice of 100 wines while noshing, listening to live entertainment or saunter through the classic car display.

The Garden Party is 1-4 p.m. Sunday. An upscale dress code is enforced and women must wear hats. Tickets, $150, can be purchased at thegardenpartymichigan.org.
