Savor Detroit, a five-night dinner series hosted by Hour Detroit, will kick off with a blast of celebrity on Oct. 5 when “Top Chef” winner and Dearborn native Mei Lin teams up with her former competitor James Rigato of Mabel Gray and the Root Restaurant & Bar.

Both Lin and Rigato were cast on season 12 of Bravo’s “Top Chef.” Rigato was sent home after a few episodes, while Lin, who works in Los Angeles took home the glory. Lin and Rigato will together prepare a four-course meal with wine pairings on Oct. 5 at the Great Lakes Culinary Center in Southfield.

Savor Detroit continues through that week with chefs Derik Watson from Bistro 82 and Derek Harris from the Hill Seafood & Chophouse on Oct. 6. Brion Wong from Antietam and Kate Williams from Lady of the House (formerly of Republic Tavern) will be the featured chefs on Oct. 7.

On Oct. 8 Savor Detroit features Marc Casadei from Tre Monti Risotrante and Matthew Fitchett from Big Rock Chop House. The final dinner will be crafted by Jeff Baldwin of J. Baldwin’s, and Doug Hewitt from Chartreuse Kitchen & Cocktails on Oct. 9.

Tickets cost $125 for each dinner and include cocktails and appetizers, the four-course meal with wine pairings and dessert. The events includes a silent auction of Tyree Guyton’s work which will benefit the Heidelberg Project.
