An eatery made from a shipping container will replace the Beach Bar & Grill at Campus Martius.
Fountain Detroit, set to open this month, will serve snacks, sausages, sandwiches and salads.
Dressed in a geometric teal patterned, the new spot will have a bar, too, and a sturdy cedar-colored deck surrounding the shipping container.
Fountain Detroit is part of the overhaul of food offerings in Campus Martius. In February, the Detroit 300 Conservancy announced the Fountain Bistro was closing and will reopen as a fresh concept with new owners later this summer. The new, still unnamed restaurant is helmed by 800 Parc LLC, run by Zaid Elia and Matthew Shiffman. Elia is known for his partnership at 220 Merrill in Birmingham.
The menu at Fountain Detroit features corridor sausages, a breakfast panini, chopped chickpea salad, pierogi from Hamtramck. A section of the menu titled “snack boxes” will have cheese and fruit selection, hummus with vegetables, charcuterie and smoked salmon.
