The next location of Maru Sushi restaurant will be on the ground floor of the Federal Reserve Building at 160 W. Fort in downtown Detroit.
Rossetti architects, which announced the news on their website, are designing the look of new restaurant. The firm is located on the fourth floor of the Federal Reserve Building and has designed other spaces there and around Detroit. The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press also operate out of the Federal Reserve Building.
Maru Sushi has four other locations in Okemos, Grand Rapids, Midland and East Lansing.
The 3,400-square-foot restaurant is expected to open this fall. Some of the planned touches include a former revolving door repurposed as a circular dining booth.
Judging by the menus at Maru’s other locations, diners in Detroit can expect small plates, Japanese-style soups and salads, hibachi-grilled entrees and plenty of sushi rolls, nigiri pieces and specialty rolls. Appetizers are expected to range from $5-$16; sushi rolls at other locations range from $8-$19 and sushi platters from $11-$30.
