A handful of local businesses will be transformed into a Luke’s Diner, the cafe depicted in “Gilmore Girls,” on Wednesday.
The long-running WB comedy/drama ran from 2000-2006 and will return for as a miniseries on Netflix. Debuting Nov. 25, “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” is four 90-minute episodes. Original stars Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel and Melissa McCarthy participated in the reboot.
To promote this Netflix has arranged for a one-day rebranding of diners and cafes across the country into Rory and Lorelai’s favorite hangout, Luke’s Diner. The date is significant: the original “Gilmore Girls” series debuted Oct. 5, 2000.
The cafes open at 7 a.m. and offer free coffee. Participating locations in Michigan include:
