Things are perking up on Detroit’s Avenue of Fashion with the opening of coffee shop Narrow Way Cafe & Shop.
The cafe will host a grand opening party at 10 a.m. Friday. Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan is scheduled to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The 1500-square-foot cafe with free WiFi will serve Zingerman’s coffee, Avalon International Bread’s baked goods, plus smoothies, pastries and other snacks. The cafe, which was helped by a $45,000 Motor City Match grant, will serve breakfast and lunch.
“We are thrilled to be opening on the Avenue of Fashion, right next to Kuzzo’s (Chicken & Waffles),” said co-owner David Merritt in a press release. Merritt owns Narrow Way with his brother Jonathan Merritt, father Bishop Andrew Merritt and Sabrina Swain, who is also general manager.
“We want to be a totally stress-free space for the community to come to work, gather, socialize and relax.”
