Help out our 4-legged friends and get a discount on Jolly Pumpkin's food and beers for National Dog Day on Wednesday.
The midtown brewpub, at 441 W. Canfield, will be collecting donations of cat and dog food which will then be turned over to the Michigan Humane Society to help pets in need. All guests who donate will receive 10 percent off their entire check at any time during business hours, from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday.
"We are so excited to be part of this event and to partner with the Michigan Humane Society and our neighbor Shinola here in midtown, said Dave Horchem, general manager of Jolly Pumpkin Pizzeria and Brewery.
Jolly Pumpkin comes to the cause naturally. Founders Ron and Laurie Jeffries are pet-owners themselves. Their 10-year-old Jack Russell Terrier, Bam’s name and likeness appears on several of the brand’s most popular styles, including Bam Biere, a dry-hopped farmhouse ale made with spicy malts, Bam Noire, a darker beer with notes of sweet plum, raisin, coffee and cacao, and Weizen Bam, a seasonal farmhouse Saison.
Don't have a dog but want one? After lunch, head to Shinola's midtown store where they'll host a pet adoption event from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. In addition to auditioning pets, you can pick up a small swag-bag with Bam-themed items from Jolly Pumpkin.
