Craft beer fans are leaping for joy over the release of Bell’s Hopslam Ale. The strong brew (10 percent alcohol by volume) was released this week and bars and restaurants around Metro Detroit are boasting that the winter seasonal is in stock.
At 11 a.m. Monday Ale Mary’s Beer Hall in Royal Oak will make a big to-do about tapping their keg. In Detroit, Harry’s has already done so, and has been offering Hopslam on tap since Wednesday.
One new twist this year: due to construction at Bell’s Brewery, Hopslam will not be bottled and instead will only be available in 12-ounce cans.
Find the cans at the Majestic Theatre’s Garden Bowl and at Local Kitchen and Bar in Ferndale, as well as in your favorite well-stocked liquor store.
Hopslam a Double India Pale Ale brewed with Michigan honey, and is considered to be one of the best among serious craft beer drinkers. It currently has a perfect score of 100 on RateBeer.com, and 99 out of 100 on BeerAdvocate.com.
