He often take years between albums, but this time, Bob Seger seems to be on an expedited schedule.
Seger management announced Thursday that the Detroit rocker and his Silver Bullet Band will launch a major tour of 23 dates less than a month after his new disc "Ride Out" goes on sale officially Oct. 14.
Seger always likes to launch in an outstate Michigan city, and the 2014-'15 Ride Out tour premiers Nov. 19 in Saginaw, at the Dow Event Center.
There's no Detroit date yet; local fans will have to content themselves with Saginaw and a Dec. 9 concert at Grand Rapids' Van Andel Arena, but there will be a celebratory hometown concert announced at some point.
Among the cities Seger and the band will hit: Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston, Dallas, Toronto, Houston, Phoenix, Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa, Buffalo, Atlanta, Pittsburgh and Cleveland, wrapping up the first leg at Madison Square Garden in New York Dec. 19. After a month's break, a string of January-February dates start Jan. 22 in Pittsburgh.
Adding a Detroit breakdown to the mix; the J. Geils Band will be Seger's opening act in Bangor, Boston, Albany, Cleveland, Uncasville, Grand Rapids, Chicago, St. Louis, Buffalo and New York.
Tickets for the first leg of the tour go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 at Ticketmaster.com and LiveNation.com. Tickets for the Halifax, Nova Scotia and St. Johns, New Brunswick shows go on sale at 10 a.m. Oct. 11.
Bob Seger fan club members will be able to buy tickets early, starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday. To become a member of the Bob Seger fan club, go to BobSeger.com.
Citi cardmembers will also be able to buy tickets early, at 4 p.m. Wednesday through Citi's Private Pass Program. For details, go to citiprivatepass.com.
