The rapper will headline this year’s Boston Calling festival, his third major festival booking in three days
Another day, another major festival booking for Eminem.
Em will headline this year’s Boston Calling music festival, May 25-27, promoters announced Thursday. The Detroit rapper will take top billing at the fest alongside Jack White and the Killers, while the fest’s undercard features acts such as Queens of the Stone Age, Khalid, Paramore, Royal Blood and more.
If this week’s lineup announcements are a harbinger of things to come, Eminem will be the king of this year’s summer music festival circuit. On Tuesday it was announced he will headline this year’s Coachella festival, unfolding over two weekends in April, which was followed the next day by the announcement he will top the bill at June’s Governor’s Ball festival in New York.
Heavy hitters such as Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo and Austin City Limits have yet to announce their lineups, but what does that mean for local fans hoping to catch Slim Shady in concert this year? While nothing has been announced, a summer show at either Comerica Park or Ford Field seems likely, as Em has never passed over his hometown during a round of touring. His last local concerts were back-to-back shows at Comerica Park in 2014 on his Monster Tour, alongside Rihanna.
Eminem’s latest album “Revival,” which was released last month, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 200 albums chart and slides to No. 4 on this week’s chart.
