Sophia Loren explains famous Jayne Mansfield photo
In a famous 1950s black and white photo taken at a party in Beverly Hills, new starlet Sophia Loren is seen giving Hollywood bombshell Jayne Mansfield's cleavage a distinctive side eye. Loren finally explained the story behind that look. "Paramount had organized a party for me. All of cinema was there, it was incredible. And then comes in Jayne Mansfield ... for me, that was when it got amazing," said the Italian actress in an interview with Entertainment Weekly to promote her memoir "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow: My Life." "I'm staring at her nipples because I am afraid they are about to come onto my plate. In my face you can see the fear. I'm so frightened that everything in her dress is going to blow — BOOM! — and spill all over the table." Loren said that she's often asked to autograph this photo, but always refuses "out of respect for Jayne Mansfield, because she's not with us anymore." Loren will be honored at the AFI Fest in Hollywood on Wednesday. The honor coincides with the 50th anniversary of her Oscar-nominated role in "Marriage Italian Style."

The actor decided not to tell the world via a publicist or social media, and instead posted the notice in the Wednesday print edition of the Times, a British newspaper. The two British actors met on the set of the 2009 film "Burlesque Fairytales."
