Twinkie Clark to be feted with a '60/40' party

Twinkie Clark Terrell of Detroit's gospel royalty, The Clark Sisters, will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Monday with a concert event at the Fountain of Life and Praise Church, 8051 Ohio, Detroit. The singer's 60th birthday and 40th year in the ministry are the cause for celebration, and hosts will be Bishop Albert Jamison and Limmie Battles. Musical guests include Bishop Rance Allen, Pastor Kim Burrell, Zak Williams & 1 Akord, Candace Benson and Bill Moss Jr. Doors open at 6 p.m., general admission tickets are $20 in advance. RIP Big Bank Hank

One of rap's early icons, Big Bank Hank of the Sugarhill Gang, who scored rap's first big pop hit, "Rapper's Delight," in 1979, died early Tuesday, at age 57. The rapper, known as "the grandmaster with 3 MCs that shock the house for the young ladies," reportedly was suffering from cancer. His Sugarhill Gang group mates, Wonder Mike and Master Gee, told TMZ, "So sad to hear of our brother's passing. Rest in peace Big Bank."

Jason Aldean yanks new album from Spotify

Country star Jason Aldean is taking a cue from pop queen Taylor Swift and has removed his new album from the free music streaming service Spotify. "Old Boots, New Dirt" broke country album sales records when it was released on Oct. 7, and now he's decided to pull it from streaming. Aldean's five previous albums are still available on Spotify.

Plant says "Nope"

It turns out the U.K. Mirror newspaper was relying on bad sourcing when it reported that Robert Plant "tore up" a contract from airline mogul Richard Branson offering $800 mil for a Led Zeppelin reunion. Never happened, Plant said through a spokesman.

'Evil Dead' gets reboot as a TV series

Campy horror film series "Evil Dead" will come back to life as a television series on the Starz network. The film's director, Sam Raimi (a Royal Oak native), is on board as executive producer, and actor Bruce Campbell returns in the role of protagonist Ash. The series starts next year, according to Entertainment Weekly.
