The Renaissance Chapter of the Links Inc. hosted an action-packed event on Nov. 8 titled "Winter Soulstice." Held at the new Garden Theater in Midtown Detroit, the evening's featured entertainment was singer/songwriter Chrisette Michele, who performed an amazing set showcasing her outstanding talent — from R&B to opera to gospel.
With a silver theme (all members of the chapter were decked out in glamorous silver attire), nearly 700 guests enjoyed a "Silver Carpet" reception with hors d'oeuvres, cocktails and dance music provided by DJ Vern English.
Guests also were treated to the Coca-Cola Ultra Lounge, a chill room with cocktails, sexy lighting and live music from Collective Peace. And if that were not enough, the whimsical experience continued with a beauty bar staffed with expert hair stylists, courtesy of Luigi Bruni Salon of Birmingham, and makeup artists sponsored by Christian Dior.
"The Renaissance Links Chapter is thrilled to host such a magical evening that spotlights our important work benefiting women and children in the Detroit Metropolitan community," says Renaissance chapter president Wendy Turner Lewis. "Funds raised are crucial to assist with our important and transformational work in the community. We cannot thank our guests and corporate supporters enough for their generosity."
Winter Soulstice was hosted by event chairs Byna Elliott and Stephanie Jones, with Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalist Ed Gordon serving as master of cerem
onies. The evening's sponsors included Fifth Third Bank, MGM Grand Detroit, Quicken Loans, Level One Bank, Coca-Cola, Comerica Bank and Rodgers Chevrolet. Tickets were $100 per person.
