Report: Ex-Faces member Ian McLagan dies after stroke

According to a Paste Magazine report, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Ian McLagan, who was admitted to an Austin, Texas, hospital after suffering a stroke, passed away Wednesday. "Mac," who played Hammond B3 for Britain's legendary Faces, had many fond stories about rowdy Faces gigs at the Eastown and Cobo Hall in Detroit with Rod Stewart. McLagan had lived in Austin for decades, and was scheduled to tour as the opening act for Nick Lowe'sholiday show. So far, no word on if Lowe's Tuesday concert at The Ark in Ann Arbor will still go on.

Friday from noon-3 p.m. Olga's Kitchen founder Olga Loizon will take photos with fans, give autographs and share stories at the Lathrup Village restaurant at 17650 W. 12 Mile. The first 20 fans will get a free bottle of Olga's Salad Dressing.

'Preachers of Detroit' sets premiere date

The Oxygen network show "Preachers of Detroit" will debut Feb. 18 at 10 p.m. The reality show is the latest in the network's "Preachers" franchise, and was shot locally. It features Bishop Charles H. Ellis III of Greater Grace Temple, Bishop Corletta Vaughn of Holy Ghost Cathedral and others.

GQ names Jimmy Iovine 'Icon of the Year'

GQ Magazine gives honors to record producer and Interscope co-founder Jimmy Iovine in its latest issue. Naming him "Icon of the Year," the magazine asks Iovine about discovering Eminem. He talks about what happened after a temp worker got him the Detroit rapper's CD. "I listen to it, and I go, 'I have no idea what the (expletive) this is.' This guy is screaming about his mother; he wants to kill his mother. I come from a place where you don't kill your mother. Right? I saw Dre, and I gave it to him. The rest is a fabulous story. His name was Eminem."
