Clinton to greet fans at United Sound Systems

The Godfather of Funk, George Clinton, visits Detroit Dec. 20 for a book signing and meet-and-greet at United Sound Systems Recording Studios, 5840 Second, Detroit. Letterman, CBS sets date for last show

The final episode of David Letterman’s “Late Show” will be May 20, CBS announced. By that time the television veteran will have has hosted more than 6,000 episodes of late night TV, since the debut of “Late Night with David Letterman” in 1982 on NBC. CBS announced in April that Stephen Colbert will replace Letterman on “Late Show.”

Lavigne reveals she has ‘health issues’

Canadian pop singer Avril Lavigne wants to apologize to fans for being “absent” as of late. A Twitter fan site of hers posted a direct message chat with the singer’s official page in which she revealed that she’s “not feeling well.” “I’m having some health issues,” she wrote. “So please keep me in your prayers.” She was not specific about what is wrong.

‘Birdman,’ ‘Boyhood’ lead SAG nominations

The Screen Actors Guild Award nominations have been released, with “Birdman” and “Boyhood” leading the film categories and HBO programming and ABC’s “Modern Family” taking the most nods in the television categories. The SAG awards will be simulcast on TBS and TNT on Jan. 25.
