Barry Manilow donates to Pontiac Schools
Crooner Barry Manilow kicked off an instrument drive for the Pontiac School District by donating a Yamaha piano from his Manilow Music Project. The “Mandy” singer is encouraging folks to donate new or gently used musical instruments to The Palace of Auburn Hills in exchange for a pair of tickets to his Feb. 15 concert. Donations can be made at The Palace starting at 9 a.m. daily until the day of the show. Visit manilowmusicproject.org.
Bruce Jenner to sit down with Diane Sawyer
After much tabloid speculation about Bruce Jenner’s reported gender reassignment, Page Six reports that the Olympian and reality television star will grant an interview with ABC’s Diane Sawyer. Page Six says the talk will discuss Jenner’s “transitioning to life as a woman,” but neither he nor ex-wife Kris Jenner have directly addressed the reports. His stepdaughter, Kim Kardashian, did tell Entertainment Tonight that Jenner is on a “journey” and that “he’ll share whenever the time is right.”
‘SNL’ reunion special packed with stars
To commemorate 40 seasons, “Saturday Night Live” will go all out with a live, three-hour reunion special on Feb. 15 on NBC. The special got a buzz boost this week when it was revealed that former cast member Eddie Murphy would be part of the show for the first time in 30 years. Other cast members on board for the special include Jimmy Fallon, Chevy Chease, Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Kristin Wiig, Dan Aykroyd, Martin Short, Bill Murray and many more. Musical performances are expected by Kanye West, Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift, Paul Simon and Paul McCartney.
‘Orange is the New Black’ actress to spin at casino
Known for her roles on the Netflix hit “Orange is the New Black,” as well as films like “8 Mile” and “Hustle and Flow,” actress and DJ Taryn Manning will step behind the decks at V Nightclub at MGM Grand Detroit on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14. The club opens at 10 p.m. and tickets, $20, are on sale at vnightclubtix.com. Later this month catch Kristian Nairn’s DJ set at V Nightclub on Feb. 28. Nairn is known for his role as Hodor on “Game of Thrones.” Billed as the “Rave of Thrones,” the event starts at 10 p.m. and tickets are $25.
