Angelina Jolie opens up about getting ovaries removed
To avoid the risk of ovarian cancer, actor and director Angelina Jolie has had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed. Her mother died of ovarian cancer at age 56 and the 39-year-old actress carries a mutation in the BRCA1 gene that increases her risk, reports Yahoo! News. Jolie said she went public with this news so other women would know this is an option. “I went through what I imagine thousands of other women have felt,” Jolie wrote. “I told myself to stay calm, to be strong, and that I had no reason to think I wouldn’t live to see my children grow up and to meet my grandchildren.” Two years ago Jolie also underwent a double mastectomy to reduce her risk of breast cancer.
‘The X-Files” returns to Fox for six episode series
“The X-Files” will return to Fox more than a dozen years after the sci-fi hit went off the air. Deadline has confirmed that David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will return in their roles as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully for the six-episode series. Production is set to being this summer. “I think of it as a 13-year commercial break,” show creator and producer Chris Carter said to to Deadline. “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”
‘Decline of Western Civilization’ goes to Blu-ray, DVD
Grab the Aqua Net, all three of Penelope Spheeris’ “The Decline of Western Civilization” music documentaries are headed to Blu-ray and DVD for the first time in a deluxe box set. The films, which show the underbelly of Los Angeles’ hardcore punk scene and interviews with metal and glam metal bands. One iconic scene showed a member of W.A.S.P. getting drunk while floating around his mother’s pool. Detroit rock band Seduce was featured in the second volume, “The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years.” The box set, which comes out June 30, will include bonus footage and a 40-page book.
David Crosby hits jogger with car
Songwriter David Crosby hit a jogger while driving a 2015 Tesla Sunday in California. Reports say he was driving the speed limit, which was 55. The jogger, Jose Jiminez, 46, was airlifted to a hospital in Santa Barbara and while his injuries are not life-threatening but he did suffer fractures. Police say neither drugs nor alcohol was a factor in the accident.
