Michigan singer heads to finals of ‘The Voice’

Traverse City singer Joshua Davis has graduated to the finals of NBC’s “The Voice.” During Monday’s episode, Davis sang BonnieRaitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me” and the Band’s “When I Paint My Masterpiece,” which earned him a ticket to next week’s finals during Tuesday’s episode. The Michigan State University graduate, who is coached by Adam Levine, will compete against Meghan Linsey for the championship, which unfolds in a two-part finale, airing at 8 p.m. Monday and 9 p.m. Tuesday, the latter of which will be preceded by an hourlong recap of the season. Davis plays in the Lansing-based band Steppin’ In It.

No phones allowed at Kevin Hart show

Comedian Kevin Hart is joining the trend of performers who are asking fans to leave their cell phones in their pockets during performances. Wednesday The Palace released details about parking and phone use for Hart’s two shows at the venue Saturday night. Use of cell phones are not allowed inside The Palace, including texting, tweeting or taking photos or videos. Anyone who is caught using their phone is subject to removal from the show. Those arriving for the later show at 11:30 p.m. should note that the parking lot will be closed until 10:30 p.m. while the first show (which is sold out) is going on. Those entering for the later show should enter through the North Drive entrance off Lapeer, and first-show attendees should leave out the South Drive exit.

Paula Deen estate up for sale

Southern cooking maven Paula Deen is selling her Savannah estate for $12.5 million. It’s the same 14,500 square-foot home where Deen filmed her cooking shows for the Food Network. It includes a croquet court, chicken coop, dock house and more. Her primary residence is in Georgia.

Buddy’s Pizza has raised more than $10,000 for the Michigan Humane Society through their Buddy Bones program. The bone-shaped treats for dogs (made with unused portions of pizza dough) have been sold for a $2 donation since last year.
