Robin Williams’ wife speaks on actor’s cause of death
Susan Williams, widow of comedian Robin Williams, spoke to People magazine recently about his passing. “It was not depression that killed Robin,” she revealed. “Depression was one of let’s call it 50 symptoms and it was a small one.” She says Williams suffered from Diffuse Lewy Body Dementia or Dementia with Lewy bodies. According to the People report, this form of neurodegenerative dementia causes changes in mental status, hallucinations and impaired motor functions. Williams has symptoms of DLB that got worse during the months leading up to his death. “This was a very unique case and I pray to God that it will shed some light on Lewy bodies for the millions of people and their loved ones who are suffering with it,” Susan told People. “Because we didn’t know. He didn’t know.”
Cobain’s sweater, Ringo’s drum, more to be auctioned
An upcoming Julien’s Live auction will feature memorabilia from some of rock ‘n’ roll’s biggest icons. The auction, which starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at julienslive.com, includes the fuzzy green-ish cardigan that Kurt Cobain wore during Nirvana’s “MTV Unplugged” concert. According to Rolling Stone, it’s expected to rake in $40,000-$60,000, with a starting bid of $20,000. Also in the auction is a lock of Cobain’s hair. Ringo Starr’s bass drum head from the kit he was playing on his 1964 “Ed Sullivan Show” debut, as well as other performances, is starting at $400,000. John Lennon’s acoustic Gibson J-160E will start at $300,000. He used it to write early Beatles hits like “Love Me Do.” Some Michael Jackson items include the jacket he wore to Elizabeth Taylor’s final wedding, and the pajamas he wore in the “Leave Me Alone” video. Elvis Presley’s 24-karat gold leaf grand piano, Steven Tyler’s insurance card, and Pearl Jam lyrics handwritten by Eddie Vedder are also on the list.
Lisa Rinna, Harry Hamlin apologize for costume
After actors Lisa Rinna and her husband, Harry Hamlin, dressed up as Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen for Halloween, the pair has now issued an apology. Presumably in the spirit of authenticity, Hamlin wore a swastika on his shirt, as the late Sex Pistol’s bassist had been known to do. Rinna sent the apology out via her Instagram. “If I hurt you we were being authentic to the characters of Sid and Nancy for our Halloween costumes,” she wrote. “It hurt and angered many of you and we are deeply sorry for that. That was never our intention. We did not mean to offend. With love, Lisa and Harry.”
