Ann Arbor guitarist advances on ‘The Voice’
Monday night Ann Arbor’s Laith Al-Saadi continued to impress on the vocal competition show “The Voice.” Al-Saadi, who is on Adam Levine’s team, won the knockout battle against Jessica Crosbie, from Pharrell Williams’ team. He performed “In Your Eyes” by Peter Gabriel; she sang “Wake Me Up” by Avicii. The NBC show held open call auditions in at Cobo Center in June.
Amy Schumer slams Glamour for putting her in ‘plus-size issue’
Comedian Amy Schumer says there’s nothing wrong with being plus size, but she called out Glamour magazine on Instagram for putting her in their plus-size issue “without asking or letting me know.” “I go between a size 6 and an 8. Young girls seeing my body type and thinking that is plus size? What are your thoughts? Mine are not cool glamour not glamourous.” The issue was a plus-size special edition in collaboration with Lane Bryant, which said it aimed at sizes 12 and up and will include a clothing collection this fall. A headline on the cover read “Women Who Inspire Us: Melissa McCarthy, Adele, Amy Schumer and (plus-size model) Ashley Graham.” The magazine honored Schumer in with a Trailblazer award at their Women of the Year awards show in June.
Jack White to release acoustic shows
Remember when Jack White said he wasn’t going to tour for a while and he did a short acoustic tour that hit the five states that he had yet to perform in? He announced the location on the day of the performance, adding to the hype of each show, which cost $3 to attend. White’s Third Man Records will release a double LP of one of those shows, “Acoustic in Idaho” and a DVD of another, “Acoustic in Anchorage,” as part of the label’s upcoming Vault Package. The set will be delivered to Third Man super fans in a silk-screened box with a 52-page photo book. The Vault Packages are $60, and the deadline to order is April 30.
‘Star Wars’ voice actor died at age 93
Erik Bauersfeld, who voiced the fishy-faced Admiral Ackbar in 1983’s “Return of the Jedi” and 2015’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” died Sunday at his California home at age 93. Besides voicing Ackbar and the iconic line “it’s a trap!” Bauserfeld also voiced Bib Fortuna in “Return of the Jedi.”
Sarah Palin corrects Azealia Banks
Rapper Azealia Banks took a fake news article about Sarah Palin as truth this week, and said some unsavory things about Palin in a since-deleted tweet (we won’t repeat them in this family newspaper). Palin responded by asking that Banks join her to “strengthen both our platforms and work together on something worthwhile — like condemning racism.” Palin also said Banks was “obviously not exercising enough intelligence to acknowledge you’ve been sucked into believing some fake interview.”

■“How to Get Away with Murder” star Liza Weil and Paul Adelstein of “Scandal” are divorcing after nine years of marriage.
■Reality television personality Rob Kardashian and model Blac Chyna are engaged. TMZ reports that he gave her a 7-carat, $325,000 ring.
