Miss Teen USA apologizes for N-word tweets
It hasn’t taken long for the new Miss Teen USA to become embroiled in controversy. After Miss Texas, Karlie Hay, was crowned Saturday night, social media users found tweets that included the N-word from 2013 and 2014. “The language Karlie Hay used is unacceptable at any age and in no way reflects the values of The Miss Universe Organization,” pageant officials said in a statement, adding that Hay was “in a different place in her life” when she posted the tweets. “Karlie learned many lessons through those personal struggles that reshaped her life and values. We as an organization are committed to supporting her continued growth.” Over the weekend, Hay apologized on Twitter and Instagram, admitting she used language that she wasn’t proud of and “is not representative of who I am as a person.”

Film star Gloria DeHaven dies
Actress Gloria DeHaven, known for her roles in movie musicals of the 1940s and ’50s, died Saturday at age 91. Her breakout role is considered to be 1943’s “Best Foot Forward” starring Lucille Ball. She was also in “Summer Holiday” with Mickey Rooney and “Three Little Words” with Fred Astaire. Later, she appeared on television soap operas like “As the World Turns” and “All My Children.”
Singer Josh Groban and actress Kat Denning have called it quits after two years, according to E! News. A source says the split was mutual. In a much less amicable break-up, TMZ is reporting that reality star Pauly D has ended his nine-month relationship with singer and fellow reality personality Aubrey O’Day. She’s currently sequestered on the set of “Celebrity Big Brother,” however, so she doesn’t know she’s been dumped yet.
