Jim Carrey’s wretched week
First, Jim Carrey was hit with a wrongful death suit accusing him of supplying the drugs that his ex, Cathriona White, 30, used to kill herself just one year ago. Now the late makeup artist’s estranged husband is piling on an additional charge, accusing the 54-year-old “Dumb and Dumber” star of giving White three different sexually transmitted diseases over the course of their on-again, off-again romance. “The claim that Mr. Carrey gave Cathriona White an STD is categorically disputed,” Carrey’s attorney, Marty Singer, told Page Six on Thursday.“This is a desperate, bogus claim,” and one, he added, that underlines that the lawsuit is an “opportunist’s transparent shakedown.”
Brad Pitt, who was served with divorce papers Monday, is reportedly “wrecked” by Angelina Jolie’s steps to end their marriage. “(Brad) got a heads-up (about the filing) two days before,” the traditional anonymous source told People, “and he was appealing to her to do this quietly — not to save the marriage, but to consider the well-being of the children — and it was ignored.” Compounding the 52-year-old heartthrob’s woes, Pitt is under investigation for child abuse by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, allegedly for hitting the couple’s oldest child, 15-year-old Maddox, during an argument on a private plane Sept. 14, which the star denies. Pitt and Jolie, 41, have lived together for 12 years and were married in 2014.
Hooker: ‘Brangelina’ split inevitable
Celebrity prostitute Samantha X told London’s Daily Telegraph that she always knew Pitt and Jolie were headed for the rocks. The “journalist-turned-escort” said the problem was that the two fell in love while filming “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” — when Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston. X, a 42-year-old mother of two in Sydney, Australia, added, “Be very, very careful if you prise a man off someone else’s arm. He will do it to you.” Rumor has it Jolie learned Pitt had an affair with his “Allied” co-star, French actress Marion Cotillard, 40, a charge the latter denied.
Paying it forward
In a gesture everyone should salute, music mogul and producer/rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs will donate $1 million to his alma mater, Howard University School of Business, to create a Sean Combs Scholarship Fund. Page Six reports the 46-year-old attended the prestigious school in the nation’s capital for two years, before getting on with his music career. Howard awarded Combs an honorary doctorate in 2004. “I was blessed to receive a great education from Howard University,” he said, “one of the best schools in the world.”
