Flo Rida to perform at Hob Nobble Gobble
The annual gala fundraiser for the Parade Company, the Hob Nobble Gobble is one of the biggest Detroit social events of the year. This year’s special guest performer is hip-hop artist Flo Rida. He broke through in 2007 with the No. 1 hit single “Low.” The Nov. 18 event also includes dinner, dancing, a carnival and rock and roll cover band Your Generation. Leni Sinclair exhibit opens Tuesday
The work of Detroit artist Leni Sinclair, the 2016 Kresge Eminent Artist, will be on display at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History next week. “The Music and the Times: Photographs of Leni Sinclair,” will open with a reception at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The reception is free and open to the anyone 21 and older. Guests will receive a free copy of the newly-published monograph documenting Sinclair’s story.
News reporter Ronnie Dahl leaves WXYZ-TV
Television news reporter Ronnie Dahl is leaving her post at WXYZ-TV to take a job with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. She announced the news to social media earlier this month, adding that she’ll be working in the Detroit office of the bureau, so she’ll stay local. “Thanks to all of you who shared kind words and well wishes,” she said on Facebook. “It’s been an adventure, Detroit.” Dahl’s last day at the station was Friday. She joined WXYZ-TV in 2013.
